We offer a variety of Sunday school classes for people of all ages, including kids, youth, young adults, and older adults. Some classes offer lectures and others facilitate discussions, but all are a great place to study the Bible and build deeper relationships with people like you who want to go deeper with God. We encourage everyone to be part of a Sunday school class.
Our Sunday worship service is typically an hour long. You will receive a bulletin with information about the church and an outline of the service. Our services are organized, but not stuffy or stiff. We focus on helping our congregation connect with each other and God through prayer, heartfelt singing, and relevant messages. We take up an offering and you are welcome to contribute if you like, but guests are not expected to give.
We have a safe, clean nursery for young children with experienced staff to watch your little ones during regular service times. We screen and train all paid staff and volunteers who work with kids and youth using our Safe Sanctuaries policy. Parents often appreciate using our nursery to give themselves time to focus on God in the service, while knowing their kids are in a loving and safe environment. Other parents prefer to keep their kids in the service, and we welcome that too. It's your decision. We love kids--whether they choose to be in the service or the nursery.
We love kids! During every worship service, we invite kids to come to the front of the sanctuary for a "Children's Moment". Kids love this time to hear a brief lesson from our pastor or our children's minister. The congregation loves this sweet time to see kids learning about Jesus. After the Children's Moment, kids in 3rd grade and below are invited to go to our fellowship hall for their very own lesson time that we call "Children's Church." Children's Church is staffed by our wonderful volunteers who have all been screened and trained in Safe Sanctuaries. Kids who do not wish to attend Children's Church are welcome to remain in the main service with their parents.
We typically celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion in our worship service on the first Sunday of each month. Everyone is welcome to receive Communion (including children) even if you are a guest or have never taken Communion before. Christ welcomes everyone to His table as we share the bread and wine (actually, we use grape juice instead of wine).
We typically have a contemporary service on the second Sunday of each month, with contemporary Christian music led by our praise band, Pleasant Groove. This is a great service for people who love livelier music with drums, guitars, and a more modern style of music.
Take the night off from cooking. Each Wednesday night during the school year, we offer a delicious home-cooked meal prepared by our own chef. This is a great time to eat and fellowship with people from our church. After dinner, you and your family are welcome to stay for one of our wonderful studies for children, youth, and adults. Dinner is $3.50 for 12 and under, $7.00 for 13 up, or your whole family can eat for just $20. (You can't feed your whole family for less anywhere.)
During the school year, we offer two adult Bible study times:
Wednesdays - 6:45-7:30 PM, Thursdays - 10:30-11:30 AM
Both studies are led by our Senior Pastor, Chris Mullis, and include a time of instruction followed by a time for discussion. For more information about Bible study, contact Pastor Chris.
PGUMC is dedicated to children and youth. We have paid ministers on staff for both children and youth ministry. Children and youth meet on Wednesday nights during the school year for a time of fun, learning, and support. These groups often take special trips for fun activities or retreats. For more information, contact our children or youth ministers.Contact
